Children invited to ‘paint their views’ on sustainable energy

UNEP is currently inviting children all over the world to submit their paintings for the 24th International Children’s Painting Competition. Our theme this year is “We have the power!” focusing on sustainable energy. The competition is open to children aged 9 to 14 years and the deadline for submission is 31 May 2015.

Energy is at the heart of critical economic, environmental and development issues facing the world today. Clean, efficient, affordable and reliable energy services are indispensable for global prosperity and can lead to a sustainable future for all, with multiple co-benefits for development, human health and the environment

Through painting, the competition encourages children worldwide to share their views on different environmental issues. For over two decades, the competition has inspired people to see the environment through the eyes of children. The paintings portray their hopes and fears and also suggest solutions for environmental issues.
